Alternative Family Living (AFL) is a type of Residential Supports available to NC Innovations or State Funded members with an Intellectual/Developmental Disability (I/DD) diagnosis. AFL is a comprehensive service individually designed to meet the needs of the consumer. Habilitative services focus on the individual's ability to reside as independently as possible in the community.

It is important to include a crisis plan in your person-centered plan. Herbert Reid Home will work with you to develop a plan to help prevent a crisis and to help you during a crisis.
Residential Supports helps you live in a structured care setting of your choice, like group homes or Alternative Family Living settings. Get help with daily tasks, like bathing, dressing, cooking, budgeting and more. A trained worker will help you one-on-one based on your individual needs.
